Holly & Sam - Woodrow Hall Wedding

***UPDATE*** The proofs are now up, you can view them by clicking here. The album preview is up now as well. View it here. What a way to begin wedding season! Holly and Sam were married on March 9th at Woodrow Hall in Birmingham. I recently posted Holly's bridal portrait session at the Alabama Theater. From my experience with Holly and Sam during the engagement portrait session and her bridal session, I knew that the wedding was going to be pretty fabulous! I was not at all disappointed.

We started the day at the Tutwiller Hotel where Holly and Sam both got ready. As I have mentioned before where you get ready is really quite important to getting beautiful preparation images. The suite at the Tutwiller was as perfect as possible. There was amazing light from the balcony, large french doors, and the balcony itself. Beyond the preparations there are the grounds of the hotel itself and a beautiful park right across the street.

I must say that everyone was such a joy to work with. I felt very welcomed by the entire wedding party and both families. It was great to work with such a wonderful group of people. One of the things I love about being a wedding photographer is the love an positive energy that is part of a wedding. Holly and Sam's was no different!

After we were finished with the Tutwiller it was off to Woodrow Hall in Birmingham for the ceremony and reception. Woodrow Hall is a completely refurbished building from 1914. It has kept its old charm and is just beautiful!

The catering was done by Echelon Catering. Without a doubt the food was some of the best I have ever had at a wedding. Their staff was very efficient and professional. This was my first time working with them but I hope that it will not be the last!

Holly's dress was an absolute stunner. Amazingly it was not the first dress that she bought. She fell in love with another dress but after it came in and she tried it on she just felt that it wasn't the right one. She then found this one and I am glad that she did. It was absolutely beautiful and perfect for her!
Without a doubt this is the best dress hangar I have ever seen. We have a back up hangar that we bring with us just in case we need it. There was no chance of that happening here! Holly mad this herself and the lace at the top was from her grandmother's wedding dress. I love those details!
Holly did her own invitations and each one was different. Here is one of the examples. I think she did an amazing job!

Jessica Lazarus of Joelle Salon does Holly's hair. I have worked with Jessica several times and I recommend her highly to all of my brides!
Jennifer Matthews of Porcelain and Pink is one of the best make up artists I have ever worked with. I always recommend her as well. These talented ladies make my job much easier.
Holly is one of the most expressive brides I have ever photographed. I just loved her emotion! It is a true joy to photograph moments like this!
The suite at the Tutwiller Hotel where Holly and her bridesmaids got ready was amazing. It was beautiful and the light made for some wonderful images. Where you get ready can make a big impact on the images. When she told me that she was getting ready there I was VERY excited! I think the results speak for themselves.

Holly was reluctant at first to see Sam before the wedding. She wanted to wait and see him for the first time at the altar. I was very glad when she changed her mind. As I think this photo shows, that moment can be magical. When you see each other before then you have the opportunity to savor it. We also had time to get some beautiful images of the two of them together at the hotel and at Woodrow Hall. She told me afterwards that she was so glad that they did it this way.

KG Designs did the beautiful boutonniere and bouquets!

Holly sees her father for the first time before the ceremony. I just loved how expressive she is!

Mr and Mrs Copeland!

The ceremony and reception were both at the beautiful Woodrow Hall in Birmingham.

Magnificent Cakes did both cakes. Sam is an avid autocross driver so a cone cake was really fitting.

I really love this idea for party favors. Often the favors are pretty quickly forgotten. These are flower seeds for the guest's gardens. Just as Holly and Sam's love is sure to grow, so shall these beautiful reminders!

Thanks so very much to Holly & Sam for choosing me as their photographer and for making me a part of their day. It was an honor and a pleasure! Be sure to check out Holly and Sam's page for the rest of the wedding images and the album design soon!

Thanks also to Becky Baker of Becky's Brides. She is an amazing coordinator who helped make sure everything went smoothly.
